The maiden edition of the Abuja International Half Marathon will commence on Saturday, this Saturday
During the international athletic event, the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) announced the diversion of major roads in the city centre to allow for a free flow of the event.
One of the alternative routes that roads have been diverted to is Abuja City Gate which has been diverted to the service lane only.
Also, vehicles from Berger to Area One have been diverted to Airport Road; from Area One. The route has been diverted to Apo Junction and all vehicles are to move to the service lane.
Apo Junction to Asokoro Road Junction will be blocked for four hours; while Nyanya to Kubwa Road will remain open. Also, Kubwa Road (approach) into the city will be blocked for four hours.
Routes from Force Headquarters to Federal Secretariat via Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Road and from Transcorp Hotel to Federal Secretariat will remain blocked for four hours.
The FRSC advised travellers to plan their travels to avoid inconvenience.
The Marathon Expo has opened at Jabi Lake Resort, featuring registration, bib collection, volunteer training and showcasing sponsors.
The event which will take off from the Abuja City Gate will terminate at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Abuja.
